Bio

Markit, a Montreal MC originally from Halifax, has been molding his conscientious and clever sound for 8 years. Due to his organized and aggressive work ethic he has been able to achieve a lot in a short period of time. In 2006, as a member of the rap quartet known as Fax 4, he gained exposure from their album InkLined, which was nominated for two NS Music Awards and attained campus-radio airplay across Canada. Since then he has accumulated an extensive discography, including recent solo effort Mark My Words, an experimental side project with producer Metropolis Votary: Legato Block - All A Lounge Town, and the digital release with Jus: Monster Island. No stranger to stages, he is proud to have performed with acts like Lupe Fiasco, K’naan, k-os, El Da Sensei, Skratch Bastid and Classified. He has just unveiled the next release with newly formed group Something Good.

PRESS QUOTES

“Markit drops his solo debut with Mark My Words, a smooth ode to concept songs and lyrical wordplay” - Exclaim!

“Markit puts thought into his lyrics, so there’s something new to pick up on the second or third time through the album, which is always good.” - HeroHill

“Whether he knows it or not, it’s a foregone conclusion that Markit will join the growing list of gifted former Halifax MCs now living outside of the 902. Until that time, I will enjoy Mark My Words, the output of a phrenic talent coming into its own lyrically and musically.” - The Coast

“A humble local rapper with the lyrical gift to produce consistently sharp-witted, thought provoking hip hop is going to be getting some national exposure.” - Dalhousie Gazette
